Just to show the older recipes can still produce award winning beers now as they have for many years; following on from Acorn’s Barnsley Bitter winning Gold and becoming SIBA Champion beer of the North East, we now have Cairngorm Brewery’s Black Gold sweet stout becoming the overall Champion Beer of Scotland. More recently we have seen Brimstage Oyster Catcher Stout winning Gold, Shed Day Pale Ale winning Silver and their Trapper Hat Bitter winning bronze at the recent SIBA North West brewing awards. In the same competition we also saw Windermere Brewing Co picking up awards for their Bit’ W’ruff Bitter and their Shi-itsu Face strong bitter, both coming away with silver in their class. All classic beers in their own right and representing some great traditional styles of beer.
