The recently published Cask Ale Report 2017/18 shows cask ale is still the second largest seller after lager. We should bear in mind the figure for lager covers sales of international and national brands, as well as craft lager sales. The latter are on the increase, giving craft brewers the chance to enter the market once dominated by the big brewers.
Keg sales will also still be dominated by national brands, but include the numerous craft keg brands now available on the market. Whilst the scope for increased sales of craft lager styles may still look good, it remains to be seen if the keg craft beer/IPA market (in whatever novel form these craft beers take) will continue to grow in what is becoming a rapidly overcrowded market.
